Figures are typical ranges based on the façade levels we commonly encounter on London surveys, sampling both daytime and night-time periods. They are indicative rather than a single fixed value, because levels vary by street, floor level, orientation and time of day. Your own property is measured with a calibrated sound-level meter as part of a free survey.
What noise level is considered a problem at home?
Most people notice disturbance to sleep and concentration once internal levels rise above the low 30s in decibels. Many London façades read between 65 dB and 80 dB during the day, which is why the internal level after glazing matters more than the outdoor figure alone.
